Description of the activity

In this training we will discover how the word influences and transforms the body, how its signs give movement one quality or another. I propose to put improvisation and choreographic composition into play, combining contemporary dance and physical theater. Through improvisation and working in pairs, we will seek physical dialogue to develop our stage presence, understanding it as part of our non-verbal form of communication. We will play with the limits of the body and the word to find different qualities of movement, trying to maximize the range of possibilities and versatility of each participant.

Alma Steiner

Graduated from the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona in 2018 and completing her training at the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen, Alma maintains a close relationship with dance through interpretation, choreography and teaching. Her focus on dance and movement is very connected to theater and voice.

Alma has built her career as a dancer in various countries around the world, forming part of companies such as Erem Dance (Switzerland), Cia Moveo, l'Atapeïda, among others. Throughout her professional career, Alma has grown and developed her passion for movement working and collaborating with choreographers such as Sol Picó, Lali Ayguadé, Toni Mira, Eduardo Torroja (Wim Vandekeybus), David Zambrano, Peeping Tom, Fighting Monkeys, DV8 , Jorge Crecis, Hofesh Shechter, among others.

Since 2014, Alma has also co-directed Kernel Dance Theatre, a collective project that she manages together with Junyi Sun and Marina Miguel from which she establishes her own scenic language that always dialogues with the most immediate present through the fragility, the careful detail of images and commitment to the social. The creations have been part of festivals such as Danza a Escena, Seismograf, Fira Tàrrega, Fira Manresa, FreiArt Festival of Germany, ÉsDansa, Metropolitan Dansa, among others.

As a choreographer, Alma has independently presented several pieces in theaters and national festivals such as Teatro del Sauzal in Tenerife, Teatre Ovidi Montllor, Auditori de Sant Martí or La casa Elizalde.
