Workshop with Poliana Lima ‘Un Todo Articulado’

May 25 and 26, Saturday and Sunday, 10 to 14 h

All levels. Minimum age 15 years old.

In these training sessions we will work with two central axes: on the one hand, the practice of attention as a basic method to investigate movement and on the other, as content, the construction of an articulated body, in which one can first recognize, the degrees of independence of the various parts of the body to then be able to associate them consciously and creatively. An articulated whole takes the body as its starting point not only in its physical-material aspect, but in its entirety, with its mental and emotional dimensions. The workshop aims to offer a movement practice in which the daily form of articulation between these dimensions is altered, thus creating the possibility of the appearance of this state that we call dance.

Poliana Lima

Poliana Lima is a choreographer, dancer and teacher who has lived in Madrid since 2010 and began her creations in 2011. In 2022 she premieres her work Oro Negro at the Autumn Festival in Madrid. In 2020, she premiered Things Move But They Say Nothing at Teatros del Canal in co-production with “Festival Días da Dança” / Teatro Rívoli in Porto and the “Centre National de la Danse” in Paris. This same year she premiered the site-specific: “Things in the Distance” at the Conde Duque Madrid Cultural Center. In 2021 she was a selected artist on the prestigious Aerowaves platform. Taking the body as the central object of her expression, she explores the possibilities of creating poetics on stage that is capable of communicating simply and deeply with viewers. Themes such as identity and memory are recurring in her creations, as well as the relationship between creation and pedagogy, which she sees as a fundamental part of her work as an artist. She is currently preparing her new piece “The Common Ground” in co-production with Conde Duque Madrid, Festival Dansa Metropolitana and Auditorio de Tenerife, which will premiere in March 2024.
