Description of the activity

Through the process of creating COSSOC, Anamaría (Slovenia) and Magí (Catalonia) create a partnering work on the use of weight change equitably between two bodies, beyond their dimensions, that is, the importance lies in how we transfer weight between two or more bodies.

The workshop focuses on the search for balance as a source of inexhaustible activity. From the internal balances of our body to the most complex balances, each small or large situation is a very complex challenge to discover the functioning of our body and the relationship with space.

The workshop is based on a gradual development, which goes from the basic principles to connect with the body and the spaces, technical exercises where we deploy the tools and spaces for exploration and improvisation where the proposed information can be integrated and thus begin to test the limits of oneself until being able to reach heavier and more complex physical situations inspired by forms of acrobatic balance, Icarian and group porters. Because the aim of the workshop is to be able to deal with risky situations without danger, thanks to the integration with the space, the trust with the group and the availability of oneself.

Anamaria and Magí met in 2018 and since then have been collaborating in a search for partnering based on the balance between two bodies. Based on this research, they created COSSOC, premiered in 2021, a long-form street piece that has performed more than 70 shows throughout Spain and Europe.

Anamaria Klajnšček was born in Slovenia and studied in Amsterdam (AHK). He has worked for the German company Tanzmainz, for Roser López Espinosa in Trama, Pere Faura in Requiem Nocturn and GN/MC in Made of Space. He has created COSSOC together with Magí Serra, Ona (a dance solo for the room) and Stream of thoughts (a dance show with live music).

Magí Serra is a performer and creator based in Barcelona. He has worked for some of the most active choreographers on the Catalan scene such as Roberto Olivan, GN/MC, Roser López Espinosa, Lali Ayguade or Sònia Gómez. He has created alone or in collaboration: Unites, Esvorell, la Mesura del detall, Brots Transhumants, COSSOC (with Anamaria Klajnscek), CONDENS (a dance solo for the hall) and Pulsació Cos i Textura (a music and dance show in direct).
